The Bridge from Determinism to Agency

What if there was a middle road between man’s infinite possibility and his genetic determinism? Could it be that his own nature defaults to whatever is prescribed in his genetic composition and only if he gains enough conscious awareness can he will his way over to the track of infinite possibility?
